We were so excited when one of our favorite home staging clients asked us to take on a full furnishing, art and styling interior design project for her recently remodeled family property in Salinas, CA. A Spanish inspired home that has been in her family for two generations and holds many special memories. We jumped at the opportunity to make her dream of turning this home into an income producing Airbnb property that could provide income for generations to come.
"The Office," located on the edge of town offers visitors a rare opportunity to stay amidst farms and expansive fields and surrounded by farming activity. The family had recently installed deep-toned walnut floors which provided a gorgeous jumping off point for our design. During the remodel the family preserved historical details of the home like the intricate fireplace featuring a carving of a local tree and the original archways that lead guests from room to room.
Leaning into the history and family story behind this home, we paid special attention to curating a vibe that spoke to the farming and ranching history of the area and the family who lived there. Our client's family lived in the home for many years and then it was turned into the office for their family business where multiple generations worked together, which is why they decided to name the property, "The Office".
We brought in all new furnishings, art, styling and greenery to create a dreamy getaway for visitors surrounded in rich textures and colors that are reminiscint of the West. We even featured artwork from our client's family produce business packaging which we had them turn into artwork for the dining room gallery wall. Part of our fundamental design emphasis is telling our client's story and we were able to do that through careful research and planning.

Our color story was filled with rich cognac, deep forest green, dark ocean blue and rust along with warm neutrals. We wanted each room to have a unique personality while still woven together in a cohesive way with the home as a whole. We used leather, wool and linen to create layers throughout the home and keep with a masculine Western vibe while still being welcoming and comfortable for visitors.
With bookings already completed, we are confident this family is on their way to a successful Airbnb property that offers visitors to the Monterey Peninsula a unique place to hunker down and relax after a busy day.
